Watts, kWh, and electricity cost
Watts describe an appliance's power at a moment in time. Electricity bills charge for energy in kilowatt-hours: watts multiplied by hours of use, divided by 1,000. Monthly cost then depends on usage days, quantity, and your electricity rate.
Why actual consumption varies
Product wattage, operating mode, thermostat cycling, standby use, age, and household habits can all change the result. Generic appliance defaults are starting estimates; use the value on your own appliance whenever possible.
Formula and transparency
Energy (kWh) = watts × quantity × hours × load factor ÷ 1,000. Cost is energy multiplied by your electricity rate. Generic values are estimates; calculation uses the wattage entered by you.
