Understand every charging unit

EV Charging Cost Calculator

Estimate home, public, or mixed EV charging costs from your own driving, efficiency and tariff values.

Custom Vehicle: enter your own specifications. No unverified model data or current price is assumed.

Charging assumptions

90% is an editable generic estimate. Actual loss and time vary by charger, vehicle, temperature, charging curve and battery management.

Enter your vehicle efficiency and tariffs. Charging loss is modelled separately from battery energy.

Understand the calculation

Battery capacity is measured in kWh, while charger power is measured in kW. Vehicle efficiency in km/kWh connects driving distance to battery energy. Grid energy is higher than battery energy because charging is not perfectly efficient.

Results are planning estimates. Real vehicle use, tariffs, charging conditions and solar production vary.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to charge an EV at home?+

Grid energy used multiplied by your home electricity tariff gives the estimated cost. Charging losses are included separately.

How do charging losses affect cost?+

The grid must supply more energy than reaches the battery, so lower charging efficiency increases units and cost.

How much electricity does an EV use?+

Divide distance by vehicle efficiency, then adjust for charging losses. Driving style, weather, terrain and accessories affect actual use.

Is public charging more expensive?+

It can be, but tariffs vary. Enter the actual home and public prices available to you.
