Car Depreciation & Resale Value Calculator

Project an illustrative year-by-year resale value from your own market estimate or an editable depreciation rate, with sensitivity to faster or slower value loss.

No verified used-car price dataset is deployed. Use a resale estimate you have researched, or an editable yearly rate. Results are illustrative, not market valuations.

—based on your details

Change any editable assumption, calculate, then review the steps, assumptions and limitations before deciding.

How this estimate works

Value is projected with a constant yearly percentage loss. You either enter the rate directly or enter a resale estimate you researched, from which the equivalent yearly rate is derived.

Formula

  • Value(t) = price × (1 − d)^t
  • d from your estimate = 1 − (resale ÷ price)^(1 ÷ years)
  • Sensitivity = the same projection at d ± 5 points

Limitations

  • Real resale depends on model demand, kilometres, condition, fuel type and city.
  • No verified used-car price dataset is used; this is not a valuation.

Data used

No market valuation dataset is deployed. Your market estimate and the editable rate are kept separate and labelled.

Frequently asked questions

Is this my car's market value?+

No. It is an illustration from your assumptions. Check listings or a valuer for a real market price.

Which mode should I use?+

If you have found resale prices for the same model and age, use your estimate. Otherwise use an editable rate and test the sensitivity rows.

How accurate is this car depreciation estimate?+

It will provide an indicative estimate based on your inputs and the stated assumptions. Actual results can vary by location, equipment, tariff, and usage.

Can I use the result to make a purchase?+

Use it as a starting point, then confirm current prices, specifications, eligibility, and site requirements with a qualified provider.
