How this estimate works
The economic view adds depreciation, loan interest and fees for the months you own the car, and running costs. A separate cash-flow view adds every payment and subtracts sale proceeds; both give the same total, confirming nothing is double-counted.
Formula
- Economic cost = (price − resale) + interest while owned + fees + fuel + insurance + service + repairs + parking
- Cash-flow = down payment + fees + EMIs paid + loan balance at sale + running costs − resale
- Cost per km = total ÷ (km per year × years)
Limitations
- Resale value is your estimate.
- Fuel and electricity prices are entered by you; no live price feed is used.
- Taxes on fuel, tolls and fines are not modelled separately.
Data used
No official dataset is used. Every rate, price and premium is entered by you or is a labelled, editable assumption.

Frequently asked questions
Why are there two views?+
The economic view shows what the car really costs you; the cash-flow view shows when money leaves and returns. They should match, which proves nothing is counted twice.
Can I use it for an EV or CNG car?+
Yes. Choose the fuel type and the units switch to km/kWh and ₹/kWh, or km/kg and ₹/kg.
How accurate is this car ownership cost estimate?+
It will provide an indicative estimate based on your inputs and the stated assumptions. Actual results can vary by location, equipment, tariff, and usage.
Can I use the result to make a purchase?+
Use it as a starting point, then confirm current prices, specifications, eligibility, and site requirements with a qualified provider.
